Beloved,
Does the idea of me sound like an oasis to a weary desert traveler like you?
Do I present a tantalizing vision of nights spent under the light of the moon, tasting and savoring each other till the break of dawn?
Can you almost feel the sweet scent of my hair and the tinkling sounds of my anklet as I leave footprints in the wet sand…
Footprints that allude to delicate contours and sinuous curves that beg to be explored?
Do I taunt your thirst, O weary traveler, receding as you yearn to get closer and stoking the embers of desire by whispering delicious secrets in your ear whilst you sleep?
Beware, my love, for I am a writer, a conjurer of dreams from barren sands. And come morning, don’t be heartbroken when you find no trace of me on the rumpled sheets except for the faintest hint of peonies lingering in the still desert air…
As writers, we wield enormous power with our pens. We can whisk our readers to faraway places, transform deserts into oases, trickling waterfalls into thundering cascades, and romance, yes, we can make our readers believe how completely we can love and have our hearts shattered.
Sometimes I wonder if it is a good idea to fall in love with a writer.
We are used to creating worlds out of nothing, love stories where none existed in the first place, and stirring the emotions of our readers through storytelling.
Therefore, is it worth it to fall in love with someone who is adept at creating oases where none existed?
Probably not because you don’t know what is real or not.
We are that skilled, you see, in weaving magic with our words that you feel yourself falling into this beautiful narrative that probably came into being from a snippet of conversation the writer overheard somewhere or conjured up from our vivid imagination.
If you enjoyed this story, come say hi on Medium where you can read more such love and sensual stories such as A Seductive Exchange Over Coffee from the author.
Lovely metaphor unimaginable feeling of despair.😍
It is a good idea to fall in love with the writing!
